2024 Scariff Community College Edna O’Brien Award
Congratulations to Zak Reynolds, winner of the 2024 Scariff Community College Edna O’Brien Award for his beautiful poem Gemini. Zak receives the perpetual award and 100 euro.
Ciara Cooney poem, Fusion, was “highly commended” and Ronan Lynch was also highly commended for his poem Soldier Boy. Ella O’Shaughnessy received the award for Best Short Story and 50 euro.
We were delighted to welcome Bestselling author, Donal Ryan, who presented the awards to the young writers. Donal has been a supporter of the award since it was established in 2021, and was wonderfully encouraging of the young writers and their work. This year’s judge, performance poet Erin Fornoff, was delighted to see the range and talent of work in Scariff Community College.
The competition is open to all students of Scariff Community College – keep an eye out for next year!
