Our TYs took there first trip out as a group today to visit Ardnacrusha Power Station. Here they went on a tour of the hydro-electric station followed by a walk to Parteen Weir. This trip marked the first of many trips near and far away for this year’s TY Class

Ciara Cooney poem, Fusion, was “highly commended” and Ronan Lynch was also highly commended for his poem Soldier Boy. Ella O’Shaughnessy received the award for Best Short Story and 50 euro.

A group of 19 students competed in the All-Ireland Secondary Schools’ Orienteering Championships, at Emo Woods, Co. Laois on April 25th. The start was delayed by nearly two hours due to vandalism on the course, so it was hard for all the competitors to stay warm and motivated. It was a good opportunity to meet and chat to the other competitors from different schools who are mostly based in Leinster or Cork, where the sport of orienteering is very strong. Scariff CC competed in a blitz at Ennis Rugby Club for 1st and 2nd year boys competing in 3 matches. The first match was a tough slog with the boys playing fantastically to come away with a draw. On Wednesday, our division 2 teams competed at the Clare Schools Badminton event on St.Josephs, Doora Barefield. The u16 boys won their match against Ennis Community College to be crowned County champions & progress to the Munster finals in January. Our u16 girls came 2nd to Killaloe. All had an enjoyable morning playing Badminton & meeting friends
