Senior Cycle

The College offers a choice of either a two or three year Senior Cycle.

Leaving Cert

Students opting for this commence immediately to prepare for the Leaving Certificate Examination in seven subjects selected from the following programme:

Mandatory (Three subjects)

Irish (unless exempt), English, Maths

Options (Four to be selected)

  • Construction Studies
  • Design & Communication Graphics
  • Home Economics
  • Accounting

Students also attend one class a week for Religious Education and Career Guidance.

The Leaving Certificate Vocational Programme (LCVP)

This programme is offered to all students and involves the above Leaving Certificate Programme plus three link modules:

  • Enterprise Education
  • Preparation for Work
  • Work Experience

The latter modules are designed to equip students with a body of practical and personal skills not normally acquired in the Leaving Certificate.  The Link Modules are assessed, graded and points awarded which may be used for admission purposes to third level colleges.

Leaving Certificate Applied (LCA)

This two year cycle is offered as an alternative to the traditional Leaving Cert.  The programme offers a wide range of subjects, and currently on offer are:

Core Subjects

  • Vocational Preparation and Guidance, English and Communication,
  • Mathematical Applications, Social Education,
  • Religious Education

Specialisms

  • Agriculture/Horticulture
  • Graphics and Construction Studies or Engineering
  • Office Administration and Customer Care

Short Courses

  • Leisure and Recreation
  • Introduction to ICT,
  • Hotel Catering & Tourism

Art Component

  • Visual Arts
  • Music

Language

Irish and French or German

Work Experience

Students also undertake work experience one day a week.

REPEAT LEAVING CERTIFICATE

This service is available to a limited number of students.  Application should be made immediately after the publication of the Leaving Certificate results.
