Get Going Get Rowing 2023

Scariff Community College was extremely successful again at the indoor rowing competition. Every person competed excellently and enjoyed their experience on a day when the standard was very high. The 3rd Year boys and TY/5th Year boys were unlucky to finish 4th in their races. 1st year girls and boys had amazing silver medal finishes and the second year girls finished top with a gold medal in their category. We saw many great games at the Clare girls Badminton Competition in Ennis Community College today. Our u14 team played well and enjoyed themselves but didn’t come away with a title, but our u16 and u19 teams were superb, battling it out in their finals to come away with county titles. Whitegate GAA Supporting SCC Astro Development

As part of our campaign to raise money for our planned Astro Development at the school our Astro Committee has contacted many local clubs and organisations in the area seeking financial support for our project. This weekend Whitegate GAA Hurling and Camogie Club very generously presented a cheque for One Thousand Euro towards our development. Edna O’Brien Writers Award

Huge congratulations to sixth year student, Emily Chen, who yesterday, was presented with the very first Edna O’Brien Award for Writing in Scariff Community College. The gathered audience of students and writers listened in awe as Emily read her palindrome poem, “They Say”, one way and fellow student Femke Nijs read it in the opposite direction. 
The school are very grateful to bestselling novelist Roisin Meaney who spoke beautifully on the craft of writing and the power of poetry, before she presented the award to Emily.

A group of First Year students pictured who are taking part this week in Gaeilge 24. The students are taking on the challenge of ‘Labhairt as Gaeilge’ for 24 hours.
