The Candidate Self Service Portal (CSSP) opened at 1pm today (Wednesday 8 February) for candidates to confirm their subject entries and levels. It will remain open for this purpose until 5pm on Tuesday 21 February. During this time Leaving Certificate candidates will be required to complete the following:
Step 1: Register and create their portal account
Step 2: Activate their account by selecting the link sent to the email that they registered on the portal

Fifth year students have the option of doing an additional online Career Assessment, called RightCareers4Me. It assesses their Values, Interests, Personality, Skills and Aptitudes and connects student’s top 5 career areas to a comprehensive list of suitable 3rd level courses. It enables students to filter their CAO courses for next year. Unfortunately, it doesn’t recommend Apprenticeships or PLC courses. The assessment will take place during the school day and takes approximately 2 hours and usually over 2 sessions, in the computer room. In-person attendance:
Teachers will be in various classrooms throughout the school building. Please bring your list of appointments with you and on arrival you will receive a map of the school and a list of what rooms each teacher has been assigned to. You will then make your way to/from various classrooms in line with your schedule/list of appointments.

Parents/Guardians – Hard copies of your appointment schedules for the 2nd year parent-teacher meeting were distributed to students.
All who have registered still have the choice of attending in-person or online or a mix of both – to maximise access to the meeting, you have been set-up for either option and we do not need to know in advance. A teacher will expect to see you at your appointment time either at their room or in the virtual waiting room on their laptop.

Our Second Year Parent-Teacher meeting is scheduled for Thursday 19th January 2023. This will be an ‘in-person’ meeting but with the option of online attendance available if preferred and once arranged in advance.
Whether attending in-person or online, Parents/Guardians of Second Year students must register in advance by logging on to the PTMO system (Parent Teacher Meeting Organiser) PTMO. This portal will close at 2pm on Tuesday 17/01
Once the portal closes for registration, the system will generate a schedule of appointments. Appointments will be between 4.15pm – 6.45pm – each appointment is a slot of 5 mins.

Efficient Learning (Core strategies to aid learning and revision; the optimum learning environment, note taking, interleaved practice, the Spacing Effect, Forget to Learn Theory and Retrieval Practice)
Marginal Gains (strategies to improve personal performance; collaboration, problem solving, research skills and time management tools).
Mindset Matters (examining ability beliefs and approaches to challenges)
The Malleable Brain (the basics of brain biology and its link to learning; the differences in storage and retrieval strength in memory and why multisensory learning is important)
