Stand Up Awareness Week is when students and staff at Scariff Community College recognise and celebrate the LGBTQ+ community by participating in a national campaign run by Belong To Youth Services. Through this important campaign, Scariff CC are showing solidarity with LGBTQ+ young people to ensure they feel seen, heard, and safe. 
 Events will include; raising of the LGBTI+ Rainbow Flag, a Baking Competition and a Wear the Rainbow Day. 
 Stand Up Awareness Week takes place in schools across Ireland and is now in its 14th year.

Iceland September 2024 LC Geography Tour

We are delighted to confirm that we will proceed with our LC Geography Trip to Iceland September 2024. The trip booking is being handled by The School Tour Company who we have worked with Scariff Community College in the past.
The booking deposit necessary to guarantee flights and accommodation is 200 Euro and this confirms a student booking. All payments are made online and handled byThe School Tour Company. They have outlined a schedule of payments including an initial deposit deadline of November 6th, 2023.

Our Under-19 boys’ soccer team advanced to the last 16 of the John Murphy Cup after a hard-fought victory over their opponents. After a scoreless first half, Lee Harrington broke the deadlock on 60 mins, coolly finishing from 18-yards after a defence splitting pass by Ronan Keane. Scariff doubled their lead on 65 mins when Edan Buckley reacted quickest to a bouncing ball in the Kilmihill penalty area. European Language Day First Year Quiz

To mark European National language day Ms Akers transition year class organised and ran a very successful language quiz for all 82 first year students. The quiz was a great success with students answering German, French and Irish questions to show off their language skills. The winning team by just one point was Italy! LC Biology Field Trip

Our Leaving Cert Biology class visited the Flaggy shore in north Clare as part of our Ecology Fieldwork. Jess from the Burren OEC guided us through surveying an area for various seaweeds and animal life from the lower shore up to the splash zone and noting differences in species across the Habitat. TY Class visit Ardnacrcrusha Power Station

A group of TY students went on a trip to Ardnacrusha on the 21st of September. We left at 9:15 and returned at 2:40. At the tour we were given high vis jackets and hard hats for safety. We then went on a tour of the building and learned about how the dam worked and how they rare fish.
Surprising facts about Ardnacrusha:

The facility holds two WW2 bunkers from while the dam was being built.
33 people died in the making of the dam because of lack of safety.
In 1929 they met 100% of Irelands electricity needs but in 2015 they only …

SCC Success at Munster Schools’ Badminton Final 2023

Our badminton teams put in a very long day at the Munster Schools competition today in UL. Each of our 4 teams had to play the champions from the other Munster counties and after all their efforts, it was silver  for the boys u19 team, losing out on the top spot by just 2 points – a tiny margin after 18 games played.
