Warm thanks to artist Ian Kelly on the completion of this beautiful bog oak sculpture entitled, “Emergence”. This very special piece was commissioned by Scariff Community College to be the Edna O’Brien perpetual award for writing in our school. The project was funded by Creative Ireland and Ian, who himself is a past pupil. Capturing the essence of the creative process, this impressive sculpture will be formally awarded to sixth year student Emily Chen, the 2022 winner.

A number of Leaving Certificate students travelled to the RDS to attend Worldskills Ireland 2022. The Worldskills Ireland event brings together enterprise, industry, education, training and government agencies to showcase the range of apprenticeships and courses available. Students can view apprentices in action, as well as visit information stands and listen to workers in these careers. Thanks to Ms Byrt and Ms Moroney for accompanying the students

We are very proud of our recent publication, Dear Reader – a collection of letters from people in our community writing about their favourite books and favourite poems. This delightful book was compiled over three years by Transition Year students and their teacher Ms. Colleran.
The first and most prestigious contributor to the book is Edna O’Brien of Tuamgraney. Students and Staff at Scariff Community College are recognising and celebrating the LGBTI+ community by participating in a national campaign run by BeLonGTo Youth Services.
As part of Stand Up Awareness Week (November 15th-19th) Scariff CC has been carrying out activities and events to create an supportive environment where LGBTI+ young people feel safe to be who they are. Through this important campaign, Scariff CC are showing solidarity with LGBTI+ young people to ensure they feel seen, heard, and safe. Events include; raising of the LGBTI+ Rainbow Flag, a Baking Competition and a Wear the Rainbow Day.

A Munster quarter final held in Whitegate between Scariff and Killenaule today (November 17) got underway at 12 noon. Killenaule got off to a mighty start having scored 2 goals in the first five minutes. They soon added 4 more excellent points to further increase the lead. A strong last five minutes saw Scariff fight back strongly to score four points including classy points from Eoghan Gunning and Ben Sweeney. The score at the end of the first quarter 2-4 to 4.

This evening we were in Dr Daly Memorial Park Tulla under lights on a cold, dry evening for the 1st round of the PPS U15 Hurling Competition.
Scariff Community College had a definitive defeat over St Annes Killaloe. Scariff started off the game with an excellent score of 1:6-0:0 at the first water break.
Liam Heffernan started off the match with a super goal followed by scores from: Paul Rodgers (0:2), Oisin Madden (0:1), Sean Óg Kilkenny (0:1), Jack Madden (0:1), Eoin Nugent (0:1).
